THE ANIMALS IN MARLOTH PARK ROAM FREE, IS THAT SAFE?
It's important to be aware of the potential dangers and respect the wildlife in Marloth Park. While the animals are generally herbivores, they are still wild animals and should not be approached or treated like pets. Stay alert and vigilant, and keep a close eye on children.
I HEAR ELECTRICITY AND LOADSHEDDING CAN BE AN ISSUE IN SOUTH AFRICA, WILL THIS AFFECT OUR STAY?
The villa's have backup battery system's in place to ensure that guests are not impacted by power outages, which can be an issue in South Africa. The battery systems are designed to keep the house operational for up to 6 hours during a power outage. However, to conserve power and ensure that the battery lasts as long as possible, it's recommended that guests minimize their use of high-power appliances. If possible, it's advisable to use low-power appliances and to turn off any unnecessary lights and electronics during a power outage to conserve energy.
HOW SAFE IS MARLOTH PARK AND THE MRLTH. LUXURY SAFARI VILLA's?
Safety is of utmost importance. To ensure a secure stay, security officers are stationed at all entrances into Marloth Park. The villa's themselves are equipped with a state-of-the-art alarm systems linked to a 24-hour armed response unit provided by iSecure Security. To further enhance your safety, the villa's surroundings are monitored by CCTV. These measures provide our guests with peace of mind, knowing that they are in a secure and protected environment.
WHY IS IT PROHIBITED TO WALK AROUND MARLOTH PARK BETWEEN 06:00 PM & 06:00 AM?
To ensure the safety of both guests and the animals that inhabit the nature conservation area surrounding the villa's, we kindly ask that walking and bicycling be restricted between the hours of 06:00 PM and 06:00 AM. During this time, the animals need to rest undisturbed and predators are more active, increasing the risk of potentially dangerous wildlife encounters should they climb the fence from Kruger National Park into Marloth Park. By respecting this rule, guests can enjoy a safe and peaceful stay while supporting the conservation efforts of the park.
WHAT OTHER RULES & REGULATIONS ARE IN EFFECT IN MARLOTH PARK?
To maintain the pristine condition and delicate eco-balance of Marloth Park, we ask that guests follow certain rules and regulations. Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors, and music, loud noise, parties, bringing in unregistered guests, spotlights, and littering are not allowed at any time. Guests are also asked to observe speed limits (50km/h on tar roads and 30 km/h on gravel roads) and give way to animals on the roadways. Feeding of wildlife is restricted to approved pellets only (available for purchase at The Bush Center; Daisy's Den), and pets are not allowed in the park. Removal of flora and fauna, as well as off-road and quad biking, are also prohibited. Walking and bicycling between 06:00 PM and 06:00 AM is not permitted, and poaching is a criminal offense. Guests are asked to use water and energy wisely and only light fires in designated bbq, braai and boma areas. These guidelines aim to ensure the safety of guests and preserve the natural environment of Marloth Park. Please be aware that these rules are actively monitored and can result in immediate eviction, additional charges and/or hefty fines.
ARE YOU ALLOWED TO FEED THE ANIMALS IN MARLOTH PARK?
Guests at Marloth Park Game Reserve are permitted to feed the animals, but only with official game pellets that can be purchased at Daisy's Den in the Bush Center. Guests who book directly through our website are given a free container of game feed to feed the animals on the ground or from the Giraffe Feeding Tower. However, guests are warned not to feed baboons, as they can become aggressive. It is crucial to only feed the animals official game pellets, as other foods may harm them.
I HEAR THAT BABOONS CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS, WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THEY VISIT THE VILLA?
Baboons can become aggressive and may even attack humans in their search for food. Therefore, it is important to avoid feeding baboons or providing them with any food, as this can lead to dangerous situations for both the animals and humans. Make sure that all foods are securely stowed away and close all doors and windows.
In the unlikely event that a baboon approaches you, remain calm and slowly back away while avoiding direct eye contact. It is always best to observe baboons from a safe distance and let them go about their natural behavior without interference.
